Erding, Germany fri - sun 9/8-9/10

Well we made it to Cliffs only set destination for the trip - to Erding, to see a wonderful couple,

Erica and Herbie Empl.

They took us right in their home for sekt and coffee. amazing the memories these 2 have - they remembered details when Michelle was here 14 years ago, complete with black fingernail polish and dyed jet black hair (or maybe purple)...Uncle Bob -- Herbie IS wearing the hat you gave him! We even filmed it for you.

we drove in here from our lovely little town karlovy vary and got in town in the afternoon. we immediately got captured by the wonderful german hospitality and had one of the famous "staff meetings" with cliff and herbie as herbie planned our outings for the next few days. we had dinner at a bavarian (very) beer house, in one of the little towns nearby. we had dinner with erica and herbie, and their daughter susie. we had a great time with them. the next day we headed out to an automobile museum with all kinds of cool cars throughout the history of german autos - i like the newer mercedes convertible! on the return trip we visited a couple of smaller towns - wasserburg for lunch, and visited a nice church in herbie's home town. and then...dinnertime! we went to susies favorite restaurant in erding, a chinese food place - something we recognized and know very well! we had sake and wine, then visited susies apartment - she has custom made bright red furniture in her new place, very nice - cliff loved it since red is his favorite color!
