Tegernsee-Achensee-Innsbruck Sat 9/9

our next day was spent traveling the area following herbie and erica. Cliff rode with them and we went first to tegernsee in germany, a nice lake resort town. we walked around and had some lunch, then moved on to achensee in austria. this was a very very green lake! in the alps, the mountains come straight up out of the water. erica says it is very very deep. from here, cliff rode on with them for dinner for the day. we continued on back to innsbruck!

Us at Achensee in Austria, absolutely beautiful lakes, sailboats gliding across the glassy lake mirroring the unbelievably green alps. hang gliders and paragliders seem to reflect the sailboats in the sky!

we went straight up the mountain to the olympic bobsled and guess what? no bobsledding! every time we called they said oh yeah maybe we go at 3 or 4 or if you have 20 people or 4 people or...always a different story. so the burgermeister of sarajevo was there at 2 and he was the last ride down. too bad for poor billy!-yea, here's me, poor billy. i'm standing in front of the bobsled run. it's really quite awesome. i had no idea the walls went up so high. on tv they look about 10 or 15 feet high but actually they are 30 to 40 feet high. wow those guys are carrying some real speed to hit the top of the walls.., poor me, maybe next time. -so, we went in to patsch and took the gondola up to the top of the mountain - what views! as you can see here of course, (arent computers great sometimes?)

we had a beer up there - most places only seem to offer various flavors of wheat beer, not our favorite but it will do at times...we attempted to go back to hungerburg to get pictures again (recall i taped over them..) but, as is the case many places, there was an octoberfest going on and the roads were blocked. so we wandered the town a while and headed back to erding! they have a very interesting way of handling detours (umleitung) around here - they just cross out the name of a town on the highway signs and you have to guess where to go - quite fun...
